For the Escape Room project, the class was able to chose between groups of two or four to create their own puzzle for the escape room that was recently built at our school, Benicia High School in Benicia CA. The puzzle could have been digital, made with blocks, virtual reality, etc. My group of four did our research on what kind of puzzle we wanted to make, and came to a consecutive decision on the puzzle safe box that reveals the four digit code 3120 once solved. Below is the image that inspired our puzzle.
The construction of our puzzle began with a foam board. I was responsible for accurately measuring, and drawing the pieces that would assemble the box. There were challenges with cutting the foam board. We simply redid the drawings for the messed up pieces and used a ruler to make sure that our carvings were straight. The group also had troubles with hot gluing the smaller pieces accurately while assembling the box. We added more glue to hold those smaller pieces together. Other roles of mine were to help construct the physical version of our box, and the video on how to solve the physical version. That video is shown below along with a slideshow of the completed foam model, and a video of a fellow classmate attempting to solve the puzzle box safe.
Hints for solving puzzle : 1. Closely observe side pegs 2. The code is not in the drawer 3. Look all over the box
For the second part of my groups Escape Room Project, one of our group members designed the puzzle box safe in fusion 360. Below, I have displayed a 3-D view, and a YouTube video on how to solve that model.
